LACKING MOTIVATION? NOT SURE HOW TO STICK TO YOUR FITNESS GOALS?

CHOOSE THE RIGHT LOCATION FOR YOU

Choosing the right workout location is very important. Whether that be at home or at a gym, you need to feel comfortable and motivated. If at-home workouts are for you, then ensure you aren’t distracted, you have plenty of space to move around, and it doesn’t get too hot! If you’re looking for a gym, make sure their values align with yours. Are they respectful? Do they help motivate you to reach your goals? Is it an inclusive environment for all workout abilities? If you choose the right location you will feel more inclined to keep on track! 

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!

Plan your workout days in advance, you could use a workout diary, schedule it in your email calendar or phone, or write it on your fridge. Get yourself into a good routine, for example, working out first thing in the morning. Plan a week, or a day in advance, just ensure you have a plan in place as this will help you keep on track and remind you to workout. 

GET A TRAINING PARTNER

Grab a friend, your partner, or a family member and get them to set their 2020 fitness goals too! Together you can motivate each other, workout together and give each other advice. I don’t know about you, but someone holding me accountable is key - there is nothing better that gets me out of bed and off to workout!

SET REALISTIC GOALS

Have you set a goal of ‘go to the gym a minimum of 5 days a week’ when you haven’t worked out in a year? Realistically this is a hard goal to achieve right off the bat, and you could lack motivation as time goes on. Start small and aim for 3 times a week, working yourself up to 5 days once you’re in good routines. 

CHOOSE THE RIGHT WORKOUT

Do you hate running and have decided to run 3 times a week? Or maybe you’re a serial gym go-er that has multiple gym tags on your key-chain! Our biggest tip for you is to choose a workout that you like! If you’re someone who doesn’t have a lot of time, then HIIT may be right for you, or if you love loud music and cycling then a spin class could be the best workout. Maybe you love variety; one HIIT, one spin class and running once a week may be your best workout routine. Working out can be fun, so why not choose a workout routine to suit you!
